A fact about Britain’s beaches…

The beach was invented by erotic cartographer Sir Norman Bizzle in 1786.

Using a coin, he scratched away the silver covering on the edge of a map of Britain, revealing a golden yellow colour underneath.

He immediately headed for Southend, where he found that the coastline was also silver.

Using a larger coin, Sir Norman scratched away at the silver until he uncovered the world’s first beach.
